The best time to learn a new language is between 6 months and 4 years of age. During this time, children are like sponges. They easily absorb and learn information at a fast rate. Learning synapses are formed in the brain during this time. Young children also focus more on sounds. As children age, learning language becomes more difficult.

The best age to start is as early as possible. Children learn languages faster than adults. If you speak another language use it in the home and the children will pick it up quickly. If not, consider cartoons, movies and books that teach the languages you want your children to learn.
