The basic travel allowance needed when traveling in Canada depends on how long your visit is, where in Canada you are traveling and what you plan to do. If you stay at a hostel, take public transportation eat fast food, and visit free attractions you can travel for $40 USD/day.

A "basic" travel allowance is something that you must determine by first defining what "basic" means to you. For some travelers, breakfast is not a must but other require it. For some, cocktails at dinner are essential while others may find such an expense unnecessary. Do some research and create a detailed list of daily needs.

This greatly depends on what areas you will visit. Everything is very comparable to prices in the USA. Hotels, food, and gasoline should cost about $70 a day. This estimate assumes an inexpensive hotel and about $20 worth of gas.

You need to base it off how long you will be there and what you are going to do. Always bring more than you think you need in case of an emergency.
