Smart antenna is a product designed particularly for urban areas, where buildings block signals. Smart Antenna uses the set-top convertor boxes to tune properly the desired frequencies. They also come bundled with low-noise amplifiers to boost signals. When a viewer is tuning a channel, smart antennas electronically activates and tunes the channel for best reception.

This is just another ambiguous T.V. accessory. It's an extension of the standard cable box and basic packages that come with T.V.'s in general, Consult your T.V.'s manual for information.

There shouldn't be any difference between a regular rabbit ears antenna and a smart antenna. With a digital converter box, you plug your antenna into one input and the coaxial cable into the converter output, into the TV. Make sure the box is on and do a scan of channels on your TV.
