Starting an art business is the same as any other business as you need a business plan and the necessary capital to get it started. Most businesses do not make any profits for at least the first year so you will need funds to handle your personal expenses.

Find some artists and find some space to rent. Have artists sign contracts giving you the exclusive right to sell in your town. Put up the artists work for sale, advertise and network with possible customers. File taxes like a business. Keep records, pay sales tax and get business licenses.
