car repairs

Question by  Abigail (35)

What is involved in changing spark plugs on a 2003 Ford Taurus?

Do I have to bring my car to the dealership, or can I bring it to any auto repair technician, or can I do it myself?

Unless you do it yourself, it will be a lot cheaper to take it to a general auto service shop. It's not that big a deal.

You can take your car to any auto technician or dealership. If you have mechanical ability and tools, such as a spark plug wrench and minor tools, you can change them yourself with some instructions from the retail parts store that you would purchase your spark plugs from. You could also go on line for instructions.

No, this job can be done by any auto repair technician, or if you are fairly mechanically inclined you should be able to complete it yourself.

Good news, there really is no reason to take your car to the local mechanic or dealership to do a tuneup. All you need is the proper tools(ratchet and spark plug socket). Remove the spark plug wires on at a time take out the spark plugs and replace the wire got through all the spark plugs and you're done.

You could do it. It requires a spark-plug socket, ratchet, and some anti- seize. Remove the wires from the plugs and label them, then remove the plugs. Gap then install the new plugs with some anti-seize on the threads being careful not to cross-thread them . Then attach the wires.

It is very simple to do, its just a matter of feeling comfortable doing it. A cheaper alternative to getting it done by a shop might be to go to a place like midas or a lube place.

It depends on how much mechanical ability you have. It might be difficult to reach the back plugs but it is possible to do your self with some research.

as far as i think you can do it your self because this process is not so hard to do, and you can do it your self, and take the help of any technician aswell.

This can be done by any auto technician and most shops are less expensive than going to the dealership. If you have to ask, this isn't a job for you.

The front 3 are easy to do. To reach the ones in the back you have to remove the air intake filter box.
