There are 18 different tests in dessage with 4 of these at the beginning level. The horse must halt, free walk, medium walk, loose rein walk, working trot, canter both leads, and perform 20 meter circles. The beginner tests are done in a 20 by 60 meter arena. The tests are done with a snaffle bit.

It's a pattern of dressage moves that are preformed in front of judges. They post the patterns beforehand so you can memorize them.
