Benefiber comes in lots of forms & flavors (including virtually tasteless to mix with other foods), so it's inactive ingredients differ a bit, but basically the "active" ingredient is soluble fiber made from Wheat Dextrin. It's sugar-free and low-gluten, so it's great for folks with a wide variety of gastro or food-related problems (diabetes or chron's disease, for example).

Benefiber is one of many dissolvable fiber tablets on the market. The idea is to give your intestines something to work on. You could ask your doctor why this brand.

Benefiber is an over the counter product sold at most drug stores and markets. It is a product that you mix with either water or fruit juice. It has been greatly improved over the years and has very little grit or offensive taste.
