What is herpangina?

My friend was recently diagnosed with herpangina.

This is simply mouth ulcers/blisters which form on the soft pallete or in and around the tonsils. They take approximately 7 to 10 days to heal. This disease usually runs its own course and treatment is only given to assist with the pain. It is important to avoid taking aspirin when suffering from this illness.

The virus causes painful blisters in the mouth and the following syptoms are frequently present: pain in swallowing, fever, tiredness, headaches in older sufferers, and loss of appetite.

Herpangina is a virus that mostly effects the throat. It is very contagious and can cause headaches, fever, anf throat lesions. It will run it's coarse in about 5 days.
