A 1099-misc is for self-employed individuals. It will only show amounts paid to the recipient, no taxes as none are taken out and therefore the responsibility of the recipient.

If you are paid more than $600 per year, and are considered an independent contractor or consultant rather than an employee, your income will be reported on a form 1099. Income reported on a 1099 will be subject to self employment taxes in addition to regular income taxes.

A 1099 is a form that you have to fill out for wages that taxes were not deducted from. This is common if you are paid in straight cash. This is the form that you fill out to determine how much you owe in taxes.

It means that you were paid for a service but you were not employed by the company. You will have to pay taxes on the income.

A 1099 form is used by companies to document amounts paid to individuals that was more than $ 600 in a calendar year. A copy is sent to the IRS and another copy sent to the individual. The individual needs to include it in his taxable income.

A 1099 is form that at it's base is a W-2. The huge difference is that when an "employer" issues a 1099 they have NOT paid any Social Security, Medicare, or withheld Federal withholding. What this means to you is that YOU will pay those taxes.

Form 1099 MISC for employment purposes is considered contract work. The "employer" does not withhold Social security, medicare or taxes from the income. This income is reported on Schedule C.

A 1099 Misc is the form a company would use to report the income of an independent contractor or freelance worker. These workers are not technically employees of the company. No taxes are withheld or deducted from the pay of these workers. The company also does not have to provide benefits that it would provide to its employees.
