In this diet you eat simple, fresh plant foods found in rich minerals. These plant foods are low in carbs and contain no glucose.

Foods you should eat: meat (grass-fed preferred), fish, eggs, nuts, berries, fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, herbs, spices, water, tea. Foods to avoid: carbohydrates, legumes, grains, dairy products, sugars, processed oils, fruit juice, and any processed foods.

It should be noted that Arthur believes that the meat you eat should be lean. He recommends that you trim the excess fat from the edges of your meat.  add a comment

Evolutionary fitness is more of a lifestyle than a "diet. " It is Art de Vany's version of what is often called the paleo diet or caveman diet. Generally, you eat like our distant ancestors ate (meat, fish, nuts, berries and NO carbs).

Reply by toothpick (57):
It is not a NO carb diet... it's a LOW carb diet. Vegetables and fruits and meat include carbohydrates. The EF diet recommends that you avoid foods that are high in carbs like breads, pasta and potatoes.  add a comment

Its a diet that restricts you to proteins (like meat, fish, nuts), vegetables and fruits. The primary restriction is carbohydrates... no bread, pasta, cereal or sugar. I have tried cutting out carbs and while it is hard at first, it gets pretty easy after awhile. You'll feel better too!

Its a low-carb diet. Its heavy on lean meats, fish and vegetables. carbohydrates and legumes (beans) are forbidden. The idea is to eat foods that cavemen ate because thats what modern humans are "meant" to eat. Modern life is very different than Neanderthal life, but our bodies havent changed.

It is Arthur De Vany's diet that restricts you to eating the types of things that early humans would have eaten. He argues that carbohydrates are the cause of many of diseases that modern people face such as diabetes and heart disease.

In addition to the dietary restrictions that other responders have made, the Evolutionary Fitness diet also promotes varied exercise, primarily in short bursts. Also skipping a meal every now and again is also considered desirable.

It is exercise of less duration but higher intensity and a diet of low carbohydrates, high protein, moderate fat, natural plant foods and no calorie restriction.

Just imagine that you were a Caveman and that would be your diet. Could you have a diet Coke, no that would contain refined sugar. No processed foods are allowed.

Reply by quadratic (73):
I dont think that diet cola has refined sugars... they use sugar substitutes like splenda or aspartame. I am not saying that the evolutionary fitness diet endorses diet sodas (i am not sure), just that diet sodas don't have refined sugars.  add a comment
