A heat bug, also known as a cicada is a winged insect. They are easily recognizable by their large size and the unique sounds they make.

heat bugs are cicadas. they create a loud sound specially at night and can be heard anywhere. in the forrest or even at the back of your house. they create this sound to attract female cicadas. by contacting their hind legs they are able to make a loud sound.

The heat bug is called Cicada. The male Cicadas produce a mating call on hot summer days, hence the name "heat bug".
