What is a good workout plan for men in their fifties?

The most important thing at such a late age is cardio. Weight lifting is a big risk due to the amount pressure it can insue on muscles. Running and swimming are best for men in their fifties.

Do at least 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week, ideally changing it up so you use different muscles. Also a strength training program is always good as it helps to build muscle.

A lot depends on if you are untrained (never exercised seriously before) or de-trained (a history of exercise). Almost any program will work, though it will have to be modified somewhat. Rippetoe's "Starting Strength" is a good all-purpose system that can easily be modified for men in their fifties.

The good workout plan for men in their fifties is exercise. Exercise is must while entering old age. He should involve in some works to pass the time without tensions. Tensions ruins ones health. Tensions follows more in old ages other than young ages. At young ages he can skip out of it.
