There are some dogs that you have to tape and support their ears in order for them to stand up and "set" properly. Other times, surgery is performed and the dogs' ears are taped up while it heals.

The best reason is because they have an infection or to prevent an infection. A lot of dogs roll in things and then it gets inside their ear and causes an infection. Another thing is if the dog keeps rubbing his ear on something and it's making his ear hurt.

The main reason for taping a dogs ear is if you are going to show your dog. You must start while the ears are soft (4 months). Stay with it!

The dog may possibly have a cut that needs to be closed and kept clear of any type of infection.

Taping up a dog's ear can train the ear not to be off-balance and be more "symmetrical" compared to the other ear. Taping can help ears "learn" how to stand up; German Shepherds for example sometimes have a so-called stubborn ear that won't stand like the other.

Taping up a dog's ears is not advised especially for dogs, try medications like neurobeon this will help or else get help from a vet. Taping should be used as a last resort.
