An average time in a 40-yard dash for a high school quarterback in most leagues is around 5 to 5. 3 seconds. A "good" time would have to be anything less than that.

A good time for a quarterback in the 40 would be around 4. 7, however, it's really dependent on the type of offensive system that is drawn up for the quarterback. If he is a pocket passer, than his speed in the 40 isn't as important, compared to an option led type offence.
