Fire blight is a bacterial infection, which begins in the flowers and move ups the tree into the branches. The flowers and twigs of the Bradford pear wilt and turn brown and the whole tree may be lost. While Bradford Pear trees are ornamental, fruit crop trees are also heavily susceptible to this disease.
