Generally, "bin" means binary file. In Linux, "[filename].bin" typed at the command line will execute a binary. Most Windows bin files aren't executable; they are used as resource files.

BIN is short for binary, and it's a file type associated with digital media such as dvd copies. BIN files contain all the information on a dvd, including any menus.

A bin file is a CD/DVD image format - a binary copy of an entire CD/DVD, IBIN file is a binary copy of an entire CDs/DVDs disc.
