3G is the third generation of telecommunication hardware standards and general technology for mobile networking.3G networks enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Services include wide-area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment.

3G stands for the "third generation" of cellular phone networks which basically refers to faster connection speeds than previous technologies. 3G radio refers to radio programming that is sent over these faster networks. In other words, this technology allows you to listed to radio on your cell phone. Note that not all 3G phones accomodate this.

Its radio for your cellphone... but instead of it being just local stations like regular am/fm radios, with 3G radio you can tap into all sorts of national programs, similar to satellite radio.

3G radio is a technology which would allow a user to tune in to radio frequencies through a cell phone network's 3G data connection. This would bypass the need for a device like a cell phone to need an additional tuner in order for the user to listen to radio broadcasts.
