You are eligible for Medicaid if you are pregnant, under 21 or over 65. There are programs for special conditions such as ovarian cancer. If you are disabled, you should apply for Medicaid through the Social Security Administration. You can also purchase a supplement to Medicare (BlueCross/UnitedHealthcare/Kaiser, etc).

Yes. If you do not qualify for Medicaid, there are companies that can help pay for all or part of the costs of medications and doctor care. Look into it by researching information of the companies that make your medicine. Do they offer any pharmaceutical help? Also look for companies that offer discount Rx cards.

First, you should always appeal any Medicaid denial. Sometimes, just doing that will, force Medicaid to take a closer look at your individual situation and you may still qualify for benefits. Second, most hospitals and clinics have indigent/charity care, that you may qualify for. Last, some states have very low-cost health insurance plans for low-income families.

Although medicaid is federally funded, the exact policies vary by state. However, you always have the right to appeal any decision that medicaid makes. Your denial notice should give you instructions on how to appeal. There are time limits to appeal, so act quickly. You also may be able to get free legal help from your local legal services program.
