The biggest problem that this breed has is back problems. Because of the way the dog is "built" it doesn't take much for them to twist their backs and that often leads to them becoming paralyzed. I personally know of several daschund owners who have had to have their dogs put down on account of crippling back injuries.

Most common problems in daschund dogs are very vulnerable to disk problems such as rupture and may result to paralysis in worst cases. The best prevention is not to encourage daschund in jumping from stairs to avoid chances of back injury and obesity. Obesity will bring forth an increase in back problems.

Common problems with Daschunds usually have to do with their backs. You have to be careful picking them up, or when they jump off things.

Daschunds frequently have back problems due to their long bodies and short legs. They like to eat and become overweight easily, which can also add more strain to the spine.

The most common problem with Dachshunds is problems with their long backs. They should not be allowed to jump and accommodations should be made for them to prevent this.
