If your looking for something relaxing and funny, the Sims 2 is a creative outlet where you can let your imagination go free. If you're up for a challenge, you can try Sno Cross 2 or some other games from the same company to go against your friends and family members. Street Fighter is also very fun for a challenge.

You can play NBA street, NFL street, all of the madden titles and need for speed underground. Its a nice mix of titles.

There aren't very many active multiplayer Playstation 2 games anymore. The most popular multiplayer game series on PS2 is the SOCOM series, which garnered thousands of fans. If you get SOCOM 1, 2, or 3, you may be able to find small dedicated communities still playing it. SOCOM 2 was the most popular to my knowledge.
