Hire a contractor. No one can really tell you because i doubt a non professional would know what to do. You don't want any permanent damage to your place of residence. Call a professional contractor to go and check things out or you might just need a new smoke detector.

You should look in you owners manual or the manufacture's website. Normal this would indicate s low battery but in this case it could be the sensor is going bad and needs replaced.

Well typically when a smoke detector beeps when not going off then usually it is letting you know that the battery is getting low. Check your manual to be sure.

All smoke detectors take batteries, it doesn't matter if it is hardwired. There is still a back up battery. You will need to take it down and remove it and replace it with a new 9 volt battery. The reason the back up batteries is if there is an electrical fire the smoke detector will still go off.

This is not true, there are hardwired smoke detectors that have no battery backup.  add a comment

In most cases this means you need to change the batteries in your smoke detector. To make sure, simple push the battery check bottom on the unit to confirm this.

It means that your battery needs to be replaced. Although your smoke detector is hardwired, it will only work when the electricity is on. All hardwired smoke detectors have a battery in the event the electricity is cut off.

it probably means either replace the unit batteries or internal batteries, or that it's malfunctioning.

First of all, there is no such thing as an insignificant beep. Depending on the model it could mean that the back up battery is dead. Even hardwired smoke alarms have a battery back up just in case your power goes out.

A smoke detector typically beeps when its battery starts to run low,. This however might not be the case and you should check your owners manual to make sure, if you have lost it try and find the manual on line

Well it might be that your alarm is missing the power and it may mean that there is a battery replacement needed, so check to make sure.

First of all fire officials do not consider hardwired detectors to be up to code it happened in my house right after we bought it you have to call in a fire investigator and an electrician because they have to trace why you are getting the warning they made us go buy battery operated for our house.

They are not a reliable detector if ever there is an electrical fire they DO NOT WORK but if it is beeping often you need to contact a professional.

I just had the same issue and finally found a manual online that provided some information using a search "smoke detector 3 chirps 3 times"- Single chirp/beep usually indicate low battery but 3 chirps/beeps indicate a possible malfunction - Try cleaning with vacuum or replace if chirping continues. Good luck

I have the same issue, and it seems logical to search online before hiring a contractor... but there's no answer here yet. I have good, new batteries... and get a series of three beeps or chirps almost daily, maybe more than once... at different times of the day and night.
