A shillelagh is a club or cudgel used by Irish faction fighters in the past. Used to symbolize Irishness in Irish-Americans, it's a stereotype of Irish brutishness in Ireland. Shillelagh law many times refers to a brawl as in the song Finnegan's Wake. Shillelagh Law is also a record company.
