What does a tune up consist of?

I've never known what they are supposed to do to your car during a tune up.

A tune-up conceits of replacing fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap/rotor, and PCV valve; check/adjust timing, adjust valves, check/replace belts and fluids; service batter, clean terminals.

There is no official definition or standard for this term. Generally includes oil change, top off fluids, check brakes, engine belts, and spark plugs.

generally, tune up means clean or replace the spark plug if need, change the HT wires, clean or replace air filter, normally overhaul carburettor throttle body and replace oil filter.

Change oil, oil filter. Check wires,air filter,fuel filter,hoses, PV Valve filter, 02 sensor, setting timing, brake fluid, transmission fluid,change spark plugs and check brakes.

Depends entirely on the particular model of car. Whatever is needed roughly every 6000 miles or so, or once a year.
