Video files on a DVD disc are stored as compressed MPEG-2 files, which are encrypted to prevent them being copied. A DVD decoder unscrambles the copy protection, then uncompresses the video stream and send the video stream out to a display (for example over a VGA or composite video adapter)

Most dvd decoders will take a movie file and turn it from one coding language into another. Say you have a file that is a .mpeg and you want a .avi, use the decoder and you can make the change doing that. They are much faster than trying to find those formats online.

A Samsung DVD decoder can burn and copy DVDs that have been purchased or rented. Now you can watch your favorite DVD without spending a fortune.

They break through the security coding provided on DVDs, so that you can burn or copy DVDs either rented or purchased.
