The first thing to think about is the language, are you fluent in Portuguese or Spanish? Can you be comfortable in that culture? I suggest going down for an extended stay, like in a rented apartment or house, you need to get enough day to day experience.

I recommend two basic things- a good investment advisor, and agents specializing in relocation to South America, which you can find online, through a reputable travel agency, or through your financial advisor. I would recommend keeping your funds in a US or European Bank with a proven track record.

Retirement is the final stage of our job. After retirement we can stay anywhere in the world. The main thing is there should be someone to look after us. As we become old many diseases follow us. We have to be careful in every ways like a new born child. For this we need others help.
