You can buy a product at any pet store called Hairball Remedy that will help. Olive oil, cod liver oil or plain old petroleum jelly added to food works too.

You can get a prescription from your vet for Lactulose syrup. But you might also try hairball prevention products. Also, milk is a laxative for cats, so you might try giving your cat a small dish of it and see if that helps--too much could cause diarrhea, though, so start with a small amount.

A cat like any other living thing should be given a more liquid diet, such as warm milk or soft food before stepping it up to something like a laxative. if this is necessary, consult your local pet store to get the stool softener options.

Give your cat plenty of water to avoid constipation and to ease constipation symptoms. Have a clean litter box. Cats are finnicky about where they do their business. Diet is most important also. Avoid a dry food only diet. Cats need variety in the diet. Avoid all human food. High fat and salty human foods can constipate and dehydrate cats.

#1 lots of water. Try tuna packed in oil or a couple of drops of olive or mineral oil. If that doesnt work get an over the counter cat laxative.

To help your cats when they are constipated the first thing to try would be catnip. Cats love it and it will help their digestion.
