What do you do when you are growing old with someone under the same roof, but still feel lonely?

Perhaps you need to try to reconnect with them or spend more time with them. Perhaps you should try doing some kind of activity together or learning something new together. Alternatively, maybe you need more outside friends. Sometimes people feel lonely simply because they don't have enough friends outside their spouse and need more variation and activity in their lives.

When you engage other people, you're much less likely to feel alone. Make friends outside your relationship by volunteering at a school or animal shelter, attending church functions or joining a book discussion group at your local library. If you're housebound, then join online forums on topics that interest you.

You should have a conversation with this person. Some things you should ask/discuss are- if they are feeling the same way? how long have you been feeling like this? are there any ways that you can change this? I also suggest counseling, first by yourself to get to the root of why you're feeling this. And then, with that person.
