The blue area directly in front of a hockey goal is called "The Crease." Opposing players are not allowed to touch the puck once it has entered the crease area. Doing so results in the goal being waved off. The dimensions of the crease were altered about 10 years ago to be smaller on the sides of the goal.

That section is called the crease. It is found in most sports that involve a goal, like hockey and lacrosse. It is usually a section of the field for that only the goalie is allowed to inhabit, although in some sports other players may be allowed into the crease, their activities within the area are likely limited.

The section in front of the goal is called the goal crease. This area of the ice the opposing team is not supposed to step in intentionally (being pushed in is okay). A lot of forwards often hang out in the goal crease to try and screen the goalie and collect rebounds.

This area is called the goal crease. It is surrounded by red lines and colored blue. No player is allowed to interfere with the goalie in this area. No attacking player may enter this area without the puck or it is a penalty. Mainly, it is an area for the goalie to have free reign to stop shots on goal.

The blue paint in front of each team's net at either ice is called the crease. This is considered the goalies turf on the ice, and players are not allowed to interfere with the goalie or make contact with him/her while inside the crease to prevent him/her from making a save.

I played hockey for 15 years, and to me that little spot was always called the G spot. I called it that because my stick was always going in there.
