Texas is a community property state. If they receive an inheritance while you are married, the property is jointly held unless the money went into a family trust. If you divorce a spouse, then you no longer inherit from them unless you are still written in the will. Your children still inherit from the other parent.

Texas is a community property state. Any property or money inherited while you are married is now community property, which the spouse gets half of upon divorce.
