These drugs are used to reduce inflammation and swelling internally. They tend to thin the blood enough to increase circulation so that excessive fluid (swelling) can be eliminated by your body. They help with pain because they relieve pressure on injuries that is caused by swelling. It can also help reduce fever.

They reduce inflammation and swelling. For example, it you have bruised your knee and it starts to swell up you can take ibuprophen to help relieve both the pain and swelling. In some cases, a doctor proscribed steroid version maybe necessary to relieve all of the inflammation and swelling. For more information, ask a doctor or pharmacist.
