Question by  Turkwork (1150)

What could it mean if a ct scan shows spots on the liver and lung?

I had a CT scan and am being sent to someone for a second opinion as a result of spots on my liver and lung.

Spots showing on a CT scan could be any number of things. It could be scarring, small cysts or tumors, etc. If the scan results were obviously one thing or another, your physician would know and not feel the need to send you elsewhere. Your doctor is probably trying to assure that it is nothing to worry about.

"Spots" on the internal organs can be caused by many things, but most often are caused by either disease or damage to the organ. Sometimes this may also be indicative of cancer but not in all cases.

Good to have a second opinion by I hate to tell you but spots on the liver is a sign of liver cancer. The cancer could have metastased to the lungs.
