Bad fuel or water in fuel. Idle air not set properly or out of adjustment. Fuel injectors dirty. Fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator not operating properly or fuel filter needs to be changed. Air filter clogged. Needs a tune-up. Needs motor oil or oil pressure low. Car could be overheating check temperature guage. Vacuum leak or EGR

If it is a manual perhaps a poorly executed shift could do that. Also check the gas tank and fuel pump for irregularities.

Without knowing what year, make, model of your your vehicle,it could be many different possibilities. Start with the basic's,make sure you are not running out of fuel. Could be an ignition failure of some sort, might be able to get an inline spark tester,to see if it loses ignition fire while the vehicle is stalling out on you.
