This could be caused by the cartlidge, which lies under the knee cap, becoming worn or damaged. It could also be caused by arthritis in the joint. If the cartlidge is worn significantly a knee replacement may be needed. Often, a repetitive movement, such as years of using the joint, may be the cause of worn cartlidge.

Your problem has obviously worsened. Have you been resting your knee for longer periods of time than what the doctor recommended? Call your physician for answers.

The cartildge under the knee cap is worn usually due to arthritis. Use ice packs on the knee cap. There is a product called Tiger Balm which is very good for arthritis. If you are overweight ,this is the time to start losing . The less weght on that knee cap the better off you will be.

If rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis is not a possibility, you may have damage to your ACL. You should no bear any weight on that knee and put ice on it. See your doctor or orthopedic surgeon right away

Based on all the physical activity you've been doing, you might have condo malacia patella. This is when the soft tissue around the knee cap has worn away due to extensive exercise, and the bones are now rubbing against each other, causing discomfort. I solved it by putting a tensor bandage on it. It should go away.
