Make sure that the power cord is connected to the back. Also make sure that the power switch on the back is in the on postion. If you have the PS3 hooked up to a power surge make sure that it is not tripped or that it is actually on. Make sure the switch is in the on poistion.

It may be overheated. Make sure the ventilation system has no dust or residues inside. Also, there may be a problem with your power cord. Check on that.

First try plugging your PS3 into different outlets to make sure it isn't an outlet issue. If it still doesn't power up you likely have a power supply issue that will need to be serviced by a Sony repair center.

There are several possibilities to can that be the reason why your PS3 will not power up. First one, is that your PS3 may be defective. Another one, and possibly obvious one to to make sure everything is plugged correctly. There also may be an issue with the power socket in which you plugged your PS3 into.

Hopefully you just have a faulty power cord, try a new one. It could also be a bad transformer, bent pin, blown capacitor, or electrical damage from a power surge.
