A small hard lump in your arm could be a sebaceous cyst. If it gets sore and appears to be a yellow head on it, 9 chances out of ten that's what it is. Go to the doctor and get antibiotics, don't pop it.

A small hard lump can be many things, but the first, and most troubling that comes to mind is a cancerous growth. If this small lump is something new, as in something you did not always have, then you should be concerned. Your best course of action is to see a doctor immediately.

If you recently hit your arm on something then this could be the reason. Also it could be that you have some sort of infection that is causing a swelling on your arm.
