I've seen figures varying in each country. 5% approximately seems most common. 4. 8% of South Africa's GDP is from the IT (Information technology) sector. In India this is 5. 3 %. The contribution is much greater in developed countries like the USA.

The figures showing progression in India are really great - it used to be less than 1%. it has been growing - about 25% increase relatively every year. However recession has hit pretty badly and the next set of figures may not be as impressive.  add a comment

Global IT research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has predicted that the IT sector will grow at three times the GDP of most nations. it studied 52 countries before it came to this conclusion. That is phenomenal.

That was a very eye-opening study by IDC. They also predicted 5. 8 million new jobs and more than 75,000 new businesses in the next 4 years. i wonder if the recession is gonna affect those numbers. Was this study done before the economic downfall?  add a comment
