Usually this therapy is done for severe constipation. This treatment is a lot kinder and safer to your body than regular use of laxatives. This treatment may also be put into place in the case of strict dieting. Sometimes a sudden change in the diet can lead to constipation and this therapy kind of stops it before it starts.

In fiber therapy, a bulk-forming fiber laxative works by absorbing liquid in the intestines and then swelling to create a softer, bulky stool that is easier to pass. It is used to treat occasional constipation, bowel irregularity or Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS).

Do you mean what could fiber therapy help? Constipation, mainly, although having a healthy intake of fiber is in and of itself a good thing whether you're backed up or not.
