My Westie tends to vomit white frothy type liquid if we had a long walk or a lot of physical activity. My vet told me that she was trying to cool off and start carrying cool water with me to help keep her hydrated when we are out on walkabout.

Inflammatory bowel disease or IBD can cause this symptom. This can cause gastric reflux. Histamines help with this problem along with portion control of meals. Sometimes a small meal before bedtime is recommended. I would advise a trip to the vet to determine if this is the problem or not.

Any dog vomiting a white frothy liquid is a very scary sign. You should IMMEDIATELY take your dog to the ER vet. This is a common first symptom of Parvo, which if caught early enough can sometimes be treated. It is a harsh disease and claims many dogs every year. Please do NOT hesitate to see your vet.

Take your Westie to the vet ASAP. Though there are mild causes for this it could also be caused by disease, allergies or irritation of the lining of the digestive tract. Since our animals can't specifically tell us their symptoms I think it is important to get a specialist.

How about if my puppy ate some poison by accident? Wouldn't that cause the same type of sympom?  add a comment

It could be that the dog has an allergy to something or it may need its anal glands cleaned by the vet. Little dogs do not always get the chance to go outside and run around like big ones do and the running around is what keeps the glands clean and if they inflame the dog gets sick.

If your dog is vomiting anything white or yellow, it is stomach bile. They are nauseous on an empty stomach. Try to give them non-acid, plain, dry foods. Crackers are safe. Make sure they have plenty of water and allow them to rest.

The only thing I can think of that could be causing your dog to vomit would be an upset stomach. Try feeding your dog a meal of plain boiled chicken chopped into bites and white rice. This is bland enough that it hopefully will make him feel better.
