Disc degeneration and dessication is caused by improper disc alignment, improper heavy lifting and arthritis in the spine. Between the discs are sacs of fluid that work as a shock absorber to the disc spaces, and can lose fluid when compressed, bulged or herniated. When that happens the discs lose required space and then the discs can become narrowed which produces stress to your spine.

Disc degeneration and dessication can often be caused by injury, but in most cases, it is part of the normal process of aging.

Disk degeneration can have a number of causes but one possible cause is scoliosis. If the spine is crooked, the tissue between disks can erode, eventually leaving the disks without protection. When this happens, the disks may grind against each other, causing disk degeneration. This is preventable with chiropractic care and good posture.
