Fall is the best time to transplant surprise lily's. When you dig up the lily, separate the bulbs if necessary. The bulbs must be planted 4-6 inches deep. Plant bulbs in full sun. Some bulbs will take several years to flower after being transplanted.

Fall is the best time to transplant any bulb. When digging the bulb make note of its depth in the soil and replant at the same depth.

In the early Autumn, dig up the lilies to be tansplanted. Replant them in 5 or 6 inches of well drained, soil. If you soil does not drain well, add some all purpose sand. Be sure to transplant early in order to allow root development.

Transplanting is most successful during dormancy in winter. After all leaves have died back and before the following spring growth. During this time bulbs can be divided and replanted.
