Prednisone is a coricosteroid that is used as an immunosuppressant. On the other hand, tinnitus is a bothering ringing in the ears. If prednisone is overused it may reach high levels in the blood which may lead to toxicity. Toxicity is harmful and can be life threathening so watch out for signs and symptoms like dizziness, sweating and tinnitus.

I have had tinnitus since March. I was told it was from hearing loss. However, I went on Prednisone when lab work for pain in my neck and back showed I had a high inflammation level. The tinnitus went away after taking the Prednisone!! Never knew that was an option

If the tinnitus is caused by an inflammatory response, predisone may help by reducing the overall inflammatory response of the body. Predisone is a steroid; this family of medications acts systemically and reduces the body's inflammatory response. Some find that they are able to reduce tinnitus with steroids, others have little luck in dealing with this condition.
