Suffering in Islam is seen as a test from Allah. It is inflicted upon all people to test whether or not they are worthy to go to Paradise after death.

Suffering in Islam sometimes is a forced creation if not spontaneous. If a follower believes he committed a sin he can force himslef and subject himself to suffering and repent. And in Islam if a sinner repents himslef he becomes free of such sins. It is also beleived that those who suffer are rewarded with pleasure, later.
