The most important thing to do is research the competition. Are there craft stores at all? Only big chain stores? You might also look for a niche area - focusing mostly on a certain craft like yarn arts. Finally, you should connect with and talk to other crafters in your area to see if there is a level of interest.

Starting a craft store is more time consuming than people think. Plan out every area, each department, each craft section, have items to display for ideas. Have an area where people can do crafts inside your store. Stores that have a peaceful area to work succeed over others that don't.

Starting a craft store of your own can be a rewarding and fun enterprise. You will need a good name for your store, as well as the money to purchase supplies and pay employees. You can have items such as yarn, knitting needles, sewing supplies and many more items.

Make it themed! It has to be unique - something you love, so you will never tire of it. Brainstorm around a central phrase or idea that you want to pursue, and decide on what sorts of products you will carry and stock. List some ideas for "craft days" you could hold to draw in the community.

After securing a location and the finances it is best to start with what you know. You should not go to far into crafts that you know nothing about.
