The two things that you need to be aware of are your fitness and prenatal care. You will need to make sure that you are in as good shape as you can be, and you should exercise, not to strenuously, but some as often as possible. And be sure that you keep up on your prenatal care.

You can definately have a healthy pregnancy at 38 years old. However, there is a higher incidence of birth defects and downs syndrome in women over thirty five. Your doctor will want to follow you carefully to see if any of these conditions are an issue.

At the advanced maternal age of 38 your doctor may watch you more closely and perform more test, other than that there is not much difference than any other pregnancy. Take your prenatal vitamins and follow your doctors orders as far as rest and activities you may do. Make sure you eat a healthy diet.
