Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey, home to over 12 million people. It is home to many different ethnic groups, primarily from Asia, Europe, and Africa, particularly Turks and Greeks. The primary religion of its peoples is Islam, though there are large Christian and Jewish populations as well. Istanbul is Turkey's economic center, as well as culturally important.
