The best way is to buy some puppy training pads; these have a specific scent that attracts the dog and keeps them from going potty in other areas.

Feeding the dog at the same time daily and using a word such as go potty when you are out helps. If you catch the dog going in the house blow a whistle, scream, or make a loud noise to startle the dog. Never hit the dog for defecating.

It's best to house train any puppy in a kennel. Put the dog in there at night with a puppy pad or towel and a toy. As much as the puppy cries to get out you have to make sure it stays in there. Make sure you take your dog outside very frequently, about once an hour at first.

Depending on the age of the dog puppy being the best time train. Normally with a pup you take them out every two hours. Reward them each time they do go with treat or verbal positve remarks.
