You are not producing enough bile. White stool could have several origins. It could mean problems with the liver, gallbladder or small intestine. It is best to get checked out by a doctor right away.

This could be a sign of a very serious problem with your liver. It's caused by too little bile so if you're experiencing this you should see a doctor as soon as possible. This could also come from tumors, gallstones, cysts or other serious conditions. At best, it's an adverse reaction to a medication.

If you use a barium enema, or maybe if you have to drink that stuff before you have a colonoscopy. If your stool is white outside of medical procedure/treatment, you may want to consult a doctor cause that's not normal. There is also supplements such as Bentinite Clay or similar, which could do it if you took too many.

The typical brownish/yellow colour of stool is due to bile salts excreted by the liver. Hepatic and billiary obstruction preventing release of bile into the small intestine causes pale/white stool.
