You should really only use hay for rabbit bedding. The reason for this is that they will chew and ingest just about any bedding, and hay is non-toxic. Whatever you do, never use cedar, pine, or newspaper for bedding. Cedar and pine are extremely poisonous to rabbits and newspaper will give them potentially life-threatening intestinal blockages.

There are many options. Old newspapers can be shredded. Clippings left after mowing the lawn can be used if dried. Any non-toxic absorbant material is usable.

It's best to use store bought bedding because it's specially formulated to cut odor around your house and soak up urine and feces. If you're in a pinch you could use tore up newspaper, but it will make your house smell because it won't cut odor.

The best bedding is pine chips, but if you don't have the money for anything right now the best thing to do would be to find an old cloth.

i don't know about your cage but mines a container on the bottom of the cage where i pull out and change the bedding. its really easy and my bunny loves it. its roomy
