Stage 3b lung cancer has a bad prognosis - less than 10% after five years, even after extreme surgical measures. Sorry for the bad news but this is unfortunately true.

Stage 3b lung cancer means that it has spread into the lymph nodes and possible other areas in the chest region. Though not able to be cured at this point, it can be treated. The survival rate on an individual diagnosed with stage 3b is 10%, life expectency is 13 months.

Stage 3 is fairly advanced and means that the cancer has already spread to other parts of the body. Lung cancer is very painful and can even spread to the bones and begin attacking the ribs and surrounding areas. These patients will cough alot and it bceomes harder to breathe.

Just follow the doctors advise and start treatment immediately. Nothing else can be done than praying to almighty for his wellbeing. Always keep your brother cheerful and dont leave him alone since his condition has already been to a advanced stage.

The most common symptoms of stage 3 include fatigue, a nagging cough, difficulty breathing normally and easily, coughing up blood, unexplained weight loss, pain in the chest, shoulders and back and they can have respiratory illness like bronchitis or pneumonia. The prognosis of stage 3B have a 10 percent surviving to five years post diagnosis.

In this case, the cancer has already metastasized into more than one tumor. It has likely spread to lymph nodes. Aggressive treatment may save his life.

It is generally considered inoperable but can be treated with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. There is about a 10% survival rate at the 5-year point. Expect fatigue and weight loss. The general survival rate, with treatment, is 13 months. Join a support group, don't be afraid to ask for help, ask about clinical trials for new treatments.
