Usually eye fatigue is caused by poor lighting or focusing on a nearby object, such as a computer screen for a long time. Therefore, prevention entails having adequate lighting in a room, without excessive glare. When working at a computer or reading a book, be sure to give yourself a one minute break every 30 minutes to rest your eyes.

To prevent eye fatigue you cannot read or stare at a computer for long periods of time. Put your work down, wash your face with cold water or get a refreshing drink. Once you are relaxed you can start fresh and begin the task you were working on. If necessary you made need glasses.

If you work in front of a computer all day, it is good to take a 5 minute break every hour or so to let your eyes rest.

First and most importantly get a good nights sleep. While working look away from your work for a few seconds to allow your eyes to relax. Make sure computer, paper, etc is not too close or far away.

1. Put a glare screen on your computer. 2. Make sure the computer is at a proper, ergonomic height. 3. Do you wear glasses? If so, keep them clean. 4. Do you need glasses? If so, get them made to the proper prescription. If you need them and don't have them, you will get eye strain.
